Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has donated one of its most prized trophy, the FIFA World Ballon d'Or Coach of the Year 2010, to be auctioned. Trophy will be auctioned off in order to raise funds for the foundation's former mentor Mourinho, Sir Bobby Robson.
Mourinho had become assistant to Sir Bobby when dealing with Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto and Barcelona. To commemorate their time together, Mourinho handed the trophy to be auctioned to the highest bidder through an online system starting next month.
The program itself is named for Sir Bobby's Breakthrough auction and starts at 8 to October 23, 2011. Funds from this auction will go to the foundation next Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
"The whole family was surprised by the outstanding contribution of Mr Mourinho. We are very pleased and grateful to him," said Sir Bobby's son, Mark, as quoted from Football365, Monday, September 19, 2011.
"My father must be very proud of all clubs and managers from around the world that combine to produce extraordinary gifts."
In addition to donations from Mourinho, auction agency also received donations from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, England manager Fabio Capello, and soccer legend, Pele.
Fergie Ferguson-greeting-donated VIP tickets to the match MU. Capello donate the opportunity to train with the England team. And Pele gave a signed book autobiograhpy.
"When I planned this auction, I can only dream to get this kind of support from parties outside the ordinary as well as from big companies," said Gina Long originator of the initial auction.
This auction agency funding target for more than £ 250 thousand (Rp3, 7 billion). The entire fund is planned to go straight into Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer Foundation.
Sir Bobby himself had died on July 31, 2009. Throughout his career as a manager / coach, he has been dealing with eight different clubs. Not including the manager of England in 1982-1990.
